An electrician licensed by the city, town or village where the property sits. The county does not issue an electrician license of its own. Hempstead, North Hempstead and Oyster Bay each run a separate licensing board, and many villages add a step of their own, such as a registration or a village permit form. Ask any contractor which license covers your address.
